Bills can be paid by credit or debit card by calling 833-262-5902 toll-free 24 hours a day.

Registration process information:

To confirm your registration, you will need both:

  • Your new account number
  • The amount you last paid for water charges (if you receive water service) or the amount you last paid for sewer charges (if you receive only sewer service).

Your new account number is on your bill, starting with the bill dated March 5, 2019. If the system does not accept the amount you enter, please contact the town for the amount. Due to the number of customers who must be helped, email is preferable: customerservice@hillsboroughnc.gov.

Required actions to ensure payments are made:

The town resumed in-house billing on Feb. 26, 2019. If you used the following payment methods before Feb. 26, you must take the actions below to ensure your water and sewer bills can be paid.

  • Recurring Credit or Debit Card — Enroll in this new billing system. For confirmation that your automated payment is in effect, look for “Paid by draft” on the bottom coupon of your bill dated for April 2019 or after. 
  • Bank Originated Bill Pay — Change information in your bank’s bill pay feature by logging in to your bank’s online bill pay service; entering a new payee for Town of Hillsborough using the following “remit to” address: Town of Hillsborough, PO Box 429, Hillsborough, NC 27278; and entering your new account or customer number in the format shown on your bill (starting with the bill dated March 5).
  • Bank Draft — Complete and return to the town an automated debit service form along with a voided check or letter from your bank listing your bank account and routing numbers. The form is on your bill and available through a link to the right. Pay by other methods until your bill states it is paid by draft. Processing takes at least one billing cycle.

Important bank draft information:

The draft payment messaging on April bills is correct. All customers should have paid their March bill by a method other than bank draft. See additional payment methods through the link to the right. Processing bank draft enrollment takes at least one billing cycle. You must pay by other methods until your bill states it is paid by draft.
