Beginning July 1, 2026, customers who pay by credit card, debit card, or electronic check will be assessed a convenience fee.
At present, the City absorbs the processing costs associated with credit card, debit card, and electronic check payments. As more customers use these payment methods, the fees charged to the City by payment processors have continued to increase.
Passing along the convenience fee will help reduce costs currently borne by City taxpayers.
Please note: The convenience fee is assessed by the payment processor—J.P. Morgan Chase & Company, Paymentech, and/or Tyler Technologies—and is not retained by the City of Havelock.
The convenience fee is 3.75% of the transaction total, with a minimum charge of $2.50. The electronic check fee is $1.95 per transaction.
Payments made through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) phone system will incur an additional $0.50 per transaction, in addition to the card or electronic check fee.
You may avoid the convenience fee by using any of the following payment options:
· Cash
· Electronic bank draft
· Bank bill pay
· Paper check
· Money order
· Cashier’s check
